This creative weaving workshop allows participants to gain a basic understanding of the principles of hand-weaving, whilst creating their own unique woven artwork or fabric.
Under Pamela’s expert guidance you will learn how to set up a frame loom and to weave a variety of basic weave structures, such as plain weave and twill, as well as some decorative tapestry techniques including rya knots and soumak stitch. You will have access to a wide variety of yarns to enable you to experiment with texture and colour blending.
Small group of 4 people maximum, to allow plenty of one-one tuition and for social-distancing. Suitable for complete beginners, or those relatively new to weaving.
Workshops take place on a Wednesday and Saturday on a choice of scheduled dates. Alternatively, if you are a family or group of friends (min 3 people) and have a specific date in mind this can be arranged at no additional cost – please contact Pamela directly.
THE WORKSHOP INCLUDES:
- 4.5 hours of weaving demonstrations and guided | one-one tuition.
- Use of the looms and tools.
- Access to an inspirational library of yarns from merino wool to fancy Italian and wool/silk fibres.
- Workshop technical guide.
You will have the option to purchase your weaving loom kit at a special rate at the end of the workshop or as a combined purchase when you book the workshop. Please see ‘select date’ in the dropdown above.
We have carried out a full risk assessment and have put the necessary changes in place in order to keep our weavers safe, including reducing participants down to 4. On booking you will receive clear instructions. Any questions? Please feel free to contact Pamela.

All materials are provided, however I do strongly encourage you to bring any discarded old clothing / textiles which can be cut and woven into your piece or yarn oddments that would otherwise go to waste.
Bring a packed lunch. Alternatively, there are some lovely cafes, restaurants and pubs in the village where you can have brunch prior to the workshop or dinner afterwards.
