This creative 1-day taster weaving workshop allows participants to gain an excellent understanding of the principles of hand-weaving using an Ashford 8-shaft table loom. You will learn how to follow a lifting plan and weave a variety of different patterns, as well as having access to a wide variety of weft yarns to enable you to experiment with texture and colour blending. All the looms will be set up in advance using merino wool or you can arrange to bring your own loom. You will come away with your own selection of sample fabrics.

Maximum four participants allowing plenty of personalised tuition.

 

Suitable for complete beginners, or those wishing to develop their skills on a table loom.

Workshops take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.30-3.30pm with a short break for lunch, on a choice of scheduled dates.

THE WORKSHOP  INCLUDES:

 Merino wool yarn will be available to purchase to take away with you in a range of 32 colours at a discounted rate.

 

WHAT TO BRING 

All materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring any yarns of your own you would like to experiment with.

Bring a packed lunch. Alternatively, there are some lovely cafes, restaurants and pubs in the village.

 

DIRECTIONS & PARKING

All workshops take place in Pamela’s studio in the historical village of Writtle, near Chelmsford.

Address : 6 Rumsey Row, Writtle CM1 3YA. The entrance to Rumsey row is situated between the chemist and Whichcraft jewellers opposite Writtle Green.

Disabled Access: From Writtle Green there are a few steps down towards the studio with handrails. There is step free access from the rear of the studio on St Johns Rd.

Parking: There is no shortage of free parking in the village. Spaces are available on the road around the back of the Writtle village green. There is also a designated free car park on the far side of the green adjacent to the duck pond.

Public transport: The nearest train station is 3 miles away in Chelmsford, the C4 bus will then take you adjacent to the studio. Approx 35 mins from London Liverpool St.
